About Your Session

My sessions are relaxed, fun, and a little quirky — designed to feel natural and effortless. You’ll walk away with around 100 images to share with the people you love.
More than just great photos, this is our chance to connect. It’s you, me, and the camera getting comfortable together. You’ll see how I use gentle guidance to bring out your most authentic moments.

It’s a great way for us to get to know each other better — I learn so much about your dynamic just by spending time together and capturing moments as they unfold.
After the session, I always welcome your feedback. It helps me tailor things for your wedding day portraits — whether it’s dialing back on the kissing shots or discovering your best angles, this time together makes all the difference.

Whatever the case may be, it’s great practice for the wedding day photos as well. The wedding day shooting goes so much quicker and smoother if we’re all comfortable and if we know what to expect of each other.

Scheduling Your Session

Engagement sessions typically run about 1.5 hours and are usually scheduled on weekday evenings — that golden light two hours before sunset is hard to beat. That said, I’m totally open to shooting at any time of day — even nighttime sessions can be stunning and full of character.
While weekday evenings aren’t always doable, they do come with perks: quieter streets, emptier parks, and more flexibility with scheduling if you're able to plan ahead.

When we schedule your engagement session depends on how you plan to use the photos. If you're sending out Save the Dates — which typically go out at least 5 months before the wedding — timing is key.
Since editing takes about 1–2 weeks, I recommend booking your session at least 5 months ahead of your big day to ensure your photos are ready in time.

These sessions are all about celebrating your love and life together — but they’re also a chance to UN-LEARN the usual way of posing for photos. It’s about capturing moments that reflect your story, highlighting your unique connection, expressing your creativity, and showcasing the love that’s truly yours.

Location
FAMILIAR PLACES TELL THE BEST STORIES
A PLACE THAT MEANS THE MOST TO YOU

I’m always up for shooting anywhere — some of my favorite images come from simply responding to the space around us. Choosing a location that means something to you as a couple can add a beautiful layer to your photos. Whether it’s sentimental, fun, or totally unexpected, the more it reflects you, the better.

Urban Love Stories

E.g.: PERTH CITY
If you’re drawn to that city charm or vintage feel, consider spots like historic buildings, character-filled storefronts, stylish restaurants, art museums, or even a parking garage with cool architecture. Urban backdrops with a bit of edge or history can add a unique vibe to your session.

Coastal Breeze & Golden Light

e.g.: Leighton Beach
If you love the laid-back, natural vibe of the coast, the beach might be your perfect setting. Think windswept hair, toes in the sand, and the glow of sunset reflecting off the water. Whether it’s rocky shores, wide open sand, or a quiet dune trail, beach locations offer a dreamy, romantic backdrop that feels effortlessly beautiful.

Among the Trees & In Between Moments

E.g.: KINGS PARK
If you're drawn to nature, a park, forest trail, or lush green space can be the perfect backdrop. Whether it's tall trees, quiet meadows, or soft dappled light filtering through the leaves, these settings bring a calm, organic feel to your photos. It’s ideal for couples who feel most at home surrounded by greenery and a bit of fresh air.

What to wear and bring

Just like your location, your outfits should feel true to who you are. I usually suggest keeping things more casual for engagement sessions, especially since your wedding day look will be more formal.
You’re welcome to wear whatever feels right to you — this is your session, after all. I recommend sticking to no more than two outfits to make the most of our time together. If you’d like to bring more, that’s totally okay, just keep in mind it might shorten the time we spend shooting.
HOT TIP FOR THE LADY: Try wearing a long, flowy dress to echo the feel of your wedding gown!

Bring a comfortable pair of shoes to switch into since we’ll likely be doing some walking. Also, try to steer clear of clothing with visible straps, tags, or anything semi-transparent that might reveal undergarments.
During the session, plan to carry only the essentials. If possible, leave purses, bags, and phones in your car—or I’m happy to hold onto them for you.

THIS IS YOUR SESSION

This guide is here to offer some helpful tips for planning your session, but it’s by no means a set of strict rules. Think of it as gentle guidance to help you feel prepared and confident in front of the camera. At the end of the day, this is your session—make it personal, make it yours, and most importantly, enjoy every moment of it!
